Available in three sizes to match the Sport range of envelopes, these beautifully constructed baskets are of a lightweight construction and have a flat top. Perfect for passengers that have additional needs or just love 'easy' ballooning.
Baskets are traditional wickerwork construction, using a mixture of Willow and Cane. Floors within the SportLite range are 9mm solid birch plywood, with Kiln dried Ash runners bolted and bonded to the floor. The structural load is taken by 4mm stainless steel wires forming a continuous sling from the burner frame underneath the basket floor.
These baskets are strengthened by a top and bottom, 25mm dia. stainless-steel frame. Longevity and strength are very important to consider when looking for the perfect hot-air balloon basket.
We pride ourselves with the fact that many of our baskets are still airworthy today, after so many decades flying professionally or for pleasure.
The top of the basket is padded and trimmed with the highest quality leather or suede. The bottom edge is traditionally covered with rawhide which protects the basket from damage during landing and transportation. For those in very harsh environments, we offer a leather base at a supplementary price.
Recent additions to the options available have included an easy assess fabric panel in the side wall. This enabled access to inside the basket when loaded within a retrieve vehicle. Very handy for more storage or simply making your ballooning experience lighter and more enjoyable. No more lifting baskets full of heavy cylinders in and out of vans or trailers.

SportLite basket sizes are from centre-to-centre of the bottom frame. Please note that an additional allowance must be made for external wall thickness and handles when determining the size of any trailer or vehicle that will carry the basket.
